Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Within our practice, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) are integral in delivering a high quality service to our patients.

ANPs are experienced, trained nurses who have undertaken additional study and qualifications to Master’s level.

This means ANPs are able to deal with conditions and ailments independently, just as a doctor would, depending upon their background of clinical experience and practice. ANPs are able to assess your condition, formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan, prescribe medication as well as refer you for other tests and investigations such as scans or x-rays and refer you to a hospital specialist if necessary.

Our Practice Nurse

Jennifer Duff

Our Healthcare Assistant

Gillian Reid

Our healthcare assistant is trained to care for our patients and support our practice nurses by providing services such as phlebotomy, wound management as well as support with chronic diseases.

Our Pharmacy Team

The Pharmacy team at Cromwell Harbour Medical Practice comprises of one pharmacist and 2 pharmacy technicians. We work closely with the Doctors and other members of the multidisciplinary team to address medicine adherence, help in the management and review of patients on longer term or complicated medication regimes. We deal with medication changes following hospital discharges and are a point of contact for any medication related queries. Our aim is to free up doctors and other clinicians so they can see the patients who need them the most. We try and ensure that wherever possible we adhere to the Lothian Joint Formulary which promotes safe, effective and economic prescribing in general practice

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, dealing with financial claims, patient safety, premises, equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Our Reception Team

Stacey Reid manages our reception team, who are your contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses.

If you are calling to request an appointment, it is very helpful to give them as much information as you are comfortable with in order for them to direct you to the correct member of the clinical team.

They also perform other important tasks such as dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
